Cleanse/detox

The basics: Cleansing, detoxing, fasting

Intestines_natural_cleansingAfter 30, 40, 50 or more years of eating and drinking "till your heart's content," I believe we can safely assume that your body has become somewhat, if not very toxic.

You may be carrying pounds of waste (fecal matter) inside of you right now.

Being toxic can be the cause of many illnesses and symptoms, such as:

  • Aches and pains
  • Sore or swollen joints
  • Fatigue
  • Distended stomach
  • Overweight
  • Sagging skin
  • Foggy mind
  • Listless
  • Bad elimination
  • Hearing impairment
  • Blurry eyesight
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Irritability
  • Dull complexion
  • Bad breath
  • Wrinkled skin
  • Lack of stamina
  • Bad posture
  • Poor sleep
  • Low sex drive
  • Back problems

There are many more serious problems, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, even cancer. This should be motivation enough! Cleansing/detoxing is imperative for a healthy, vibrant life.

How to Cleanse

Ideally you need three days. If three is difficult, then one complete day is the absolute minimum.

Prepare everything in advance. In short you’re going to need: fruit, vegetables, nuts, essential fatty acids and water. On this program you may eat any fruits and vegetables you desire. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, as much or as little as you want.

Fruit_veg_2Raw vegetables would be preferable as the enzymes are alive. Cooking depletes the vegetables; steaming would be better. Go with the raw.

Orgainic products are preferable. Consume only raw and unsalted nuts. Some examples are almonds, walnuts or peanuts -- really any nut you like, just a small handful here and there.

You should take some essential fatty acids, in the vegetarian form or fish oil or olive oil. This stops the sugar rush of the fruit and acts as a natural laxative. You might stop by the restroom three, four, five times -- or even more often. This is a very good thing!

Please drink lots of (distilled) water to flush the doxins out. You may also drink fresh juice -- by fresh, I mean not bottled, not from a carton, not from a can. (I don’t care what it says on the label -- if it’s in a container it is not fresh! You are going to juice the fruits and/or vegetables yourself and immediately drink four to six ounces. You will find the whole process is organic. You will not believe how good this tastes and how fantastic it makes you feel.

Please note fasting/detoxing/cleansing can make you a little dizzy, tired, fuzzy-brained and light headed. It would be preferable to choose a day when you can take a nap when you want, when you’re not working, driving, working out and not thinking too hard. This should be a day of pampering yourself, taking care of yourself (not others). I like this to be a day of silence and meditation.

The day following your detox, ease back into the desired eating plan. Don’t jump back into coffee, donuts and a cigarette -- you’ll undo all the good work.

Make a note of how your skin glows, how your eyes are brighter and your stomach is flatter -- your body is ready for this!
