The lowdown on sneakers

Sneakers are the body's "foundation." Ask anyone involved in construction and they’ll tell you how important foundation is. It's the same with the human body. Our feet (the foundation) must be kept in perfect shape. Choose a sneaker of top quality and construction. And one that is "sports specific" -- if you are going to do step aerobics, buy a step-aerobics sneaker; if you’re going to play tennis, buy a tennis shoe. For most general-fitness plans, a good-quality running sneaker will work well. Right now, I'm wearing the latest version of The Beast sneaker from Brooks
(pictured). The larger or discount stores usually sell "look alike" sports shoes, it’s better to go to a running store where they sell the real thing. If you live in the L.A. area I recommend Phidippides in Encino.
